Product Details

The kit will comprise of a pair of wagons.

There is an article in the July issue of Garden Rail on how to build these wagons.

These wagons are only suitable for 32mm gauge.

Due to limited storage space we are currently only making these kits up on demand which is why the listing says pre-order but they should go out within a day of being ordered.

Due to problems with the original tooling they do not have brakegear and are supplied with Binney Wheels and axleboxes and material to make 3mm axles. Binney small Carmarthen couplings are included which can be configured as standard, hook and chain or drop link.

The carriage of outsize loads on 2 ft gauge railways always presented problems. Goods such as telegraph poles, lengths of timber and tree trunks, girders and rails all had to be carried on special bolster wagons. A pair of these wagons would either be coupled together or linked by a chain or pole for longer loads, and the load then placed across the bolsters which were free to swivel on curves.
The wagon in this kit depicts a type converted from a single plank wagon, (our kit CC3006) thus enabling the kit to be built up in the original wagon form by leaving off the bolster and cross mounting. Similar wagons were also made from slate wagons minus their topwork and you can represent one of these by using parts from our CC3001 kit in conjunction with this kit.
