BR AIR-BRAKED OPENS & TIMBER WAGONS

The OBA, OCA, & SPA wagons followed the OAA wagons, to form the largest part of the air braked open wagon fleet. They have similar underframes and suspension. There were 1600 SPA wagons, a large number of which were transferred to the engineers' fleet (ZAA - PIKE). This was also the case with the OBA & OCA, as about half the 800 OBAs and some of the OCAs were coded ZDA - BASS.
However, after being taken over by EWS, most if not all of these wagons returned to revenue stock, although they were still used for engineering work. Some OBA wagons were rebuilt as "Sea Urchin" wagons and 30 OCA wagons had new fixed sides as "Seahorse" - see the Departmental page for kits.
The kits have pivoting wheel/axleguard units which are turned by the couplings, and returned to a straight position by a tension spring.

It is our policy that items will only be shown as in stock if we physically have the designated number of bagged kits or items to dispatch immediately. Continued high demand from our exhibition traders means that we are not holding as much 4mm stock as we would like. However out of stock items are available to pre-order. We are moulding new items every day and will prioritise production of pre-ordered items so that they will normally be available for dispatch within 3 days with the rest of your order. If your want to delay payment in these circumstances until you are sure that the items are ready then please use the Purchase Order option in the Checkout and we will send you an email link for payment when they are ready. We also accept orders for spare parts or part kits. Please use the contact form to make your enquiry about these or any other matters.
